Here is the part where I tell you a little bit about me, and why I started this blog.
My name is Brian Coleman and I am a journalism major at SUNY New Paltz. My dream is to one day have my own sports column, but its one step at a time. I would love to cover the Knicks or Yankees beat for a newspaper, or any sports beat for that matter. I am most passionate about baseball, basketball and football.
I’m from Rockville Centre, Long Island and was blessed to grow up enjoying success from my teams. The Yankees of course were in the midst of winning four titles in five years before the dynasty was ended on one fateful night in Arizona. The Knicks had been to the NBA finals twice before I was ten, but since have been the punch line of countless jokes and the skid mark of New York sports. Maybe that’s a little harsh, but that’s what ten years of futility and irrelevance will do to a fan. The Giants reached the Superbowl when I was in the 5th grade, only to see Ray Lewis and the Ravens lead one of the most intimidating defensive units as they walked all over Big Blue.
The future looks bright though. Yanks won the series two years ago, the Giants won arguably one of the greatest super bowls ever back in ’08, and the Knicks got back to the playoffs for the first time in seven years this past season (ill omit the part where they got swept out of the first round by their big brothers i.e. Celtics).
